Welcome Back Unlock

Full-height re-authentication screen that shows the signed-in user's avatar, name, and email, then asks only for their password to unlock the session, with links to reset the password or switch accounts. Ideal for a locked-session or step-up-auth prompt where the user's identity is already known.

Installation

A real shadcn registry command, not a copy-paste stand-in: it fetches this block plus its button, avatar, avatar-initials dependencies and any missing npm packages, and installs them straight into your project.

npx shadcn add https://staaarter.com/r/welcome-back-unlock.json

Prefer not to use the CLI? Copy the source from the Code toggle above into src/components/blocks/auth/auth8.tsx instead.

Usage

The file also exports auth8Demo, the exact props behind the preview above. Spread it to get a working section in one line, then replace it with your own data.

import { Auth8, auth8Demo } from "@/components/blocks/auth/auth8";

export default function Page() {
  return <Auth8 {...auth8Demo} />;
}

Props

PropTypeDefaultDescription
userAuth8UsernoneThe signed-in user's name, email, and optional avatar image.
forgotPasswordHrefstring"#"Link target for the "Forgot password?" link.
switchAccountHrefstring"#"Link target for the "Use a different account" link.
classNamestringnoneExtra classes for the outer section element.

Types

type Auth8User = {
  name: string;
  email: string;
  avatar?: { src: string; alt: string };
};

Behavior notes

  • The show/hide password toggle is real client state (useState), it swaps the input's type between "password" and "text" and updates the button's aria-label accordingly.
  • The "Unlock" button submits a form whose onSubmit calls preventDefault, there is no real authentication check, it's decorative like the About blocks' inert CTAs.
  • Avatar falls back to initials generated from the user's name via initialsFromName when no avatar image is supplied or the image fails to load.
