Introduction
Some GIFs, especially ones exported from screen recordings, contain several consecutive frames that are exactly the same image, just repeated because of how the source was captured. This tool cleans that up automatically.
It's a purely structural optimization: nothing about how the animation looks or plays changes, only how many redundant frames are stored to represent it.
What Is GIF Animation Optimizer?
A duplicate-frame merger for GIFs: it scans through the frame sequence and, whenever it finds two or more consecutive frames that are pixel-for-pixel identical, merges them into one frame with a combined delay.
It's deliberately conservative compared to this category's other size-reduction tools: it never touches a frame that differs from its neighbor by even a single pixel.
How GIF Animation Optimizer Works
The GIF is decoded into its fully composited frames. The tool then walks through them in order, comparing each frame's raw pixel data to the previous kept frame.
Whenever a frame is byte-for-byte identical to the one immediately before it, its delay is added onto that kept frame's delay instead of storing a second, redundant copy. The merged sequence is then re-encoded into a new, typically smaller GIF.

Common Mistakes
