Since GIF can include a transparent color index and JPEG cannot represent transparency at all, any transparent pixels are flattened onto a clean white background.

What Is GIF to JPG Converter?

A client-side GIF-to-JPG converter that reads a GIF file's raw bytes directly, its header, logical screen descriptor, global and local color tables, optional Graphics Control Extension, and LZW-compressed image data, decodes the first frame into raw pixels, and re-encodes those pixels as a JPEG.

Only the first frame of an animated GIF is used; the decoder deliberately stops after producing one still image.

How GIF to JPG Converter Works

The parser walks the GIF's block structure byte by byte, building up a color table and decompressing the LZW-encoded pixel indices for the first image frame it finds, including handling GIF's optional 4-pass interlacing.

Any pixel marked with the GIF's designated transparent color index comes through with zero alpha; those pixels, along with the rest of the image, are then flattened onto a white matte and painted to a canvas for JPEG export.
